We Are A Registered Charity & Reuse Centre
Wastewise is a recycling centre and registered charity located in Georgetown, Ontario and proudly serves Halton Hills and surrounding area.
We are a first stop for many thrifters, environmentalists, production companies, and bulk buyers who ship to Cuba, Africa, and more!
Operating since 1991, this community-based initiative offers education programs and recycling opportunities and generates revenue through the sale of used goods.
On the surface, Wastewise is a place where people socialize, browse, tinker, and go the extra distance to 'do their part'. However, as a common link to all sectors, Wastewise is much more. The center is exemplary of sustainable community economic development and front end approaches to managing waste.
*** *** COVID-19 Update ****
Wastewise as a waste diversion charity and recycling/reuse centre is permitted to be open under Ontario Reg. 82/20, Schedule 2, section 47(b). We will be open during the lockdown 9-5, Tuesday to Saturday starting January 9, 2021.
It has been determined by the Town of Halton Hills that all sales of recycled items in-store are not allowed. All sales must be through curbside pickup or other alternative means allowed by Reg. 82/20 by calling us at (905) 873-8122 or following us on Facebook.
As a result, and in order to maintain our primary purpose of recycling and waste diversion, all floor items at Wastewise are FREE until further notice (note these items will not be the same items available for sale through curbside pickup). This will allow us to continue taking your donations of unwanted items and diverting waste. When choosing free items please be sure to check in at the front desk before leaving with anything, and be considerate in leaving enough items for others.
We reserve the right to deny an individual free items for any reason including but not limited to refusal to comply with COVID safety protocols.
In store visits are subject to capacity limits and COVID-19 safety measures in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Wastewise will only survive these tough times thanks to your monetary donations. While monetary donations are never required, please consider a monetary donation of $10, $20, $50 or whatever you can afford anytime you are donating unwanted items, accepting recycled items from us, or paying for a purchase by curbside pickup.
Stay safe and recycle!
Since Opening in 1991, Wastewise has been giving back to the community through environmental scholarships, community education, reducing landfill waste and assisting those in need!
Wastewise provides more scholarships than any other organization in Halton Region!
In 2019, Donations to Wastewise kept over 400 Metric Tonnes of Reusable Materials from being put into landfills!
All proceeds generated from sales of recycled goods in our Charity Store go back into the community!
